If you are just starting on a fitness program, wanting to only stay active for a few minutes each day, or you have to exercise at a low intensity after surgery or illness, then 20 minutes is likely enough for you. However, you will likely need to slowly increase the amount of time you spend on an exercise bike if you want to lose weight. You will also need to increase the intensity of your workouts by increasing resistance on the bike.
In order to create an exercise bike that you can fold and wheel away to a corner or under a bed for storage, the frame has to be designed for it and the total weight of the bike has to be as low as possible.
A full-fledged non-folding exercise bike typically comes with a heavier frame and larger and heavier components that will stand in the way of being folded. A large display screen or flywheel, seat rail for recumbent bikes, etc are all features that are great to have but cannot go on a foldable bike. The construction will also be more heavy-duty, and a spin bike will even allow you to stand and pedal furiously.
All these features are more basic and lightweight on a foldable bike, therefore it will usually be less expensive than an equivalent non-folding bike.
